QA/QC in Data Centre Construction Explained

Data centre QA/QC is a discipline of ITPs, ITRs, witness and hold points, and formal non-conformance reporting. It runs to a higher standard than general commercial construction because redundancy and Tier certification depend on documented quality.

ITPs and ITRs

An Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) defines every check point on an installation. An Inspection and Test Record (ITR) is the evidence that each check happened and passed. On data centre projects, ITPs are contract deliverables, not internal tools.

Witness and hold points

A witness point invites the client (or CxA) to attend a test but proceeds if they do not. A hold point stops work until sign-off is received. Hyperscale clients place hold points at higher frequency than general contractors are used to.
