The Ireland Data Centre Market in 2026
Last updated: July 2026.
The Dublin connection pause
EirGrid's constrained approach to new large-demand connections in the greater Dublin area has capped new data centre power capacity in the region. Operators have not slowed down. They have relocated.
The regional shift
Ennis (County Clare), Limerick and Westmeath are the current hot zones. Grid capacity, land availability and planning support have made regional Ireland a viable base for hyperscale campuses that would previously have gone to Dublin.
Pipeline and hiring implications
Regional projects have thinner local labour pools. Cx engineers and QA/QC inspectors who can rotate to regional sites, or relocate for the duration of a build, command a rate premium. Dublin talent that will not travel is being priced out of the busiest projects.
What this means for employers
- Plan Cx headcount 6 to 9 months ahead of L4 site integration.
- Budget for travel or per diem on regional roles.
- Do not assume Dublin day rates apply on Midlands projects. Rates are higher.
